Ideally, 16 months before the Big Day, a couple should already have a general idea about the Wedding. This should include: a prospective date, venues for the ceremony & reception, and a general budget. Since everything flows from a specific budget, this should be one of the very first considerations.

12 months before tying the knot, the couple starts meeting and discussing options with Wedding Professionals – florists, caterers, cake designers, gown makers and photographers. They should also entertain the idea of hiring a Professional Wedding Planner to handle the bulk of planning. The Ceremony & Reception venues should be reserved as early as possible. Talk to the clergy who will officiate.

8 months before the Wedding, the Bride should start compiling the names and addresses of her Guest List. The members of her Entourage should also be identified. The couple then has to begin seriously zeroing in on their choice of caterer, florist, cake maker and gown design.

With 6 months to go before takeoff, the Guest List & Entourage are to be finalized. Gowns and dresses for bridesmaids should be picked and fitted.

With barely 3 months to go, all advance payments and reservations should be in. Venues, caterers, florists, band and photographer should be firmly confirmed. Invitations are sent out. The Bride shall follow up and confirm the attendance of invited guests. The couple checks on the lodging and accommodation arrangements for out-of-town guests.

2 months before takeoff, invites for the Rehearsal Dinner, Bridal Shower and Bachelor Party are sent out. The band is booked and adviced of song selection. (For some bands, 6 months is the norm.)

1 month before the Big Day, the Bridal Gowns and Bridesmaid dresses are re-fitted and checked for alterations. The couple applies for a Marriage License.

2 weeks before the I DO’s, everything is double checked, the seating arrangement is finalized, and the Wedding Professionals and service providers are apprised of last minute changes.
